Description

Inspired by a real wooden dachshund in the Imperial War Museum, Little Manfred tells the story of Walter, a German sailor and sole survivor when the Bismarck sinks, who is taken as a prisoner of war to Britain. He forms a deep friendship with ten-year-old Grace, and on his return to Germany leaves her a carved wooden dog. Decades later, with the 1966 World Cup bringing nations together, Walter and Grace have a chance to reunite.
